Leadership and Management Fellow / Respiratory ST4 / MBBS MRCP PG Cert (Med Ed)
Kathy is a Respiratory Registrar based in the North East of England. After graduating from Newcastle University, she has completed her postgraduate training to date in the North East and an additional Teaching Fellow year (earning a PGCert in Medical Education).
Throughout her career, Kathy has been committed to improving the experience of Resident Doctors—not only through high-quality education but also by advocating for better working conditions and wellbeing. She believes that empowered, supported Doctors are essential to delivering safe and effective patient care.
As part of her Fellowship, Kathy is undertaking the IL1 programme with Medics Academy to further strengthen her leadership capabilities. She is also working across NHSE ENE and Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust to gain insight into the systems and structures that support Resident Doctors on a regional and trust level. Key elements of her role involve supporting the Faculty of Digital Health and exploring the challenges that different groups of doctors face in accessing appropriate support.
Outside of work, Kathy enjoys spending time with her family, often exploring Northumberland and the coast —usually paired with her love of good food.
